"Charmed, I'm Sure!"

Hi everyone, it's time once again for Designer Challenge Week and this time the challenge was issued by my lovely friend and teammate Karen Aicken.  Karen has asked us to use any of the many charm die sets designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Christmas will soon be here and we all need gift tags so that's what I decided to make for this challenge.  We all collect lots of crafting supplies and love to get the best use from them.  I'm inviting you to look at your dies in different ways.  Simply because they come in sets doesn't mean  you can't step outside the box and use them creatively.

I've made 4 gift tags using the Christmas Charms set as a beginning and then adding pieces of other die sets in a different way.  I've linked each die set below the photo so you can see which set they came from and how I used them.

For this one I used the decorator pieces from the Katie Label Pivot card as my base.  The candy cane was added using some twine from my stash.  The word "Joy" from the Holiday Clear Stamps fits so beautifully in the corner.  I stamped it with white pigment ink.  The charms on all of these tags are attached with twine which means they are loose so you may want to decorate both sides of them as I did.

The base of this tag was created with the Tag Pivot Card using two of  the decorator dies from the set.  I stamped the small snowflakes using white pigment and then added the gift package from the Christmas Charms.

This time around I used the Accordion Fancy Label Card for my decorator pieces and then added some stars from the Happy Birthday card.  I added some Nuvo Crystal Drops on the tree before attaching it to the tag.

This one may be my favorite because of the shape.  I used the Star Accordion decorator piece then added the circle, snowflake and twine.  So easy.

I hope you have enjoyed the tags and will try some for yourself.  It's quick and easy.

Be sure to visit Karen's Facebook Page to see a new batch of inspiration from the team.  Tomorrow Karen will have a new video and technique to share with you here.

Have a crafty week,

Yikes!!  It's almost Thanksgiving and I haven't started my Christmas cards.  Have you?

Just wanted to stop in today to share a quick and easy card.  This went together in minutes and it has lots of room on the inside for your personal message.  I used some festive dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs to create a holiday mood.

This is a 5" X 7" card with a top fold.  I simply added some festive paper for the background and then started adding the die cut elements.

Have a great week and I'll see you on Monday for the Karen Burniston Designs Challenge.
Charmed I'm sure!

Another year older!

November is a busy month for me as I have several friends and family with a birthday.  This time it is one of our WOW group, Helen, with the big (and I won't say how big) birthday to celebrate.   Here is the card I made for her.

This time I decided that an envelope was not needed since I was delivering it in person.  I used a simple belly band with the greeting on the front.

For the inside I did a Twist Circle Panel card with Agatha Edges and lots of stars and party goodies.

Hope you have enjoyed Helen's card.
Have a great week,

It's Pop it Ups Wednesday on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog and I'm sharing a complete tutorial on how I made this gate fold with a lovely surprise inside.  Hope to see you there.

Hat Attack

Yay, it's Designer Challenge Week once again and this time Karen Burniston has asked us to focus on hats, Hat Attack.   The Pop it Ups line has so many cute choices, everything from birthday to queen.  I have used 4 different hats from the collection - but in a new way.  Today I have an "altered" hat for each season.  I love how the Pop it Ups all work together and I also like to use them in different ways when I can - so I'll be sharing how I did just that.  Who doesn't like getting more than one use from their die collection?

I began with the Oval Landscape Accordion with a computer generated phrase.

Here are some helpful tips for altering the hats -

For the winter knit cap I used the Santa Hat from Props 5.  Cut and round the top edge,  I then edged the entire thing with brown ink then put the two pieces together to look like a winter knit cap with the edge rolled up.  I placed the cap on my card using foam tape to pop it up, then added 3 small snowflakes from the Christmas Charms.

For the baseball cap - I started with the hat from Props 1.  Cut off the brim as shown above.  Using the Sports Charms - cut the solid circle then cut off the loop and part of the circle.  The lower part will become the brim of the cap, it is the perfect size.  Edge all around the light blue part with darker blue, add a small brad at center top.  I drew the lines of the cap by hand.  For the home plate, I used one of the house pieces from the Holiday House. The softball is from the Sports Charms.  Both were edged with Vintage Photo Ink.

For the gardening hat I started with the witch hat from Props 9.  Cut as shown above and it becomes something entirely different.  Edge with brown, add the balloon string and bow from Props 2.  On the finished card I simply added some flowers and leaves from All Seasons Tree

For the pilgrim hat I started with the Top Hat from the Steampunk Charms, cut sides at an angle and cut off loop, as shown above.  Using the Halloween Props 9,  I cut the hat band and the buckle.  On the finished card - I placed the hat on the pumpkin from the Halloween Charms and added leaves from the All Seasons Tree.

I hope you have enjoyed my take on "Hat Attack" and will check out Karen's Facebook Page to see what the team made.  Karen will have a new technique and video for you tomorrow on her blog so don't forget to take a look.

Have a creative week,
