Tag Friday @ A Vintage Journey

Yay!! it's tag Friday at A Vintage Journey and the design team gets to make a tag using any theme we choose.  So with Fall just around the corner I decided to go with the colors that bring changing seasons to mind.  You can see all the tags from the team by clicking here.

I used a couple techniques from the Creative Chemistry 103.  I really love these colors together and enjoyed playing with my Distress Crayons.

Beware of the cake-

I have a fun card to share with you today.  Yesterday our WOW group celebrated a very special birthday, our friend Cheri was welcomed into the world of the 70's.  We had a fun lunch and as usual we all brought hand made cards.  Earlier this month I made a card with the witch's feet sticking out of the cauldron and Cheri really loved it.  She tried to talk me into giving it to her but I had other plans for it.  I made this card for her with the witch's feet sticking out of the birthday cake.

I used Karen Burniston's Cup Pop Stand die to make the cake pop up in the center of the card and then added pieces from Karen's other die sets all from Elizabeth Craft Designs that are linked below.

Happy Birthday Cheri!

Designer Challenge Week - Be Inspired!

Hi everyone and welcome to September's second Designers Challenge.  This time around it's the lovely Caz Counsell's turn to issue the challenge. She has asked us to take our inspiration from a fellow team member.  Owls are a popular critter among this team and I took my inspiration from Frances Byrne.  Not only does she love and collect owls - the name of her blog is StampOwl's Studio and you can visit her by clicking here.

I used Poppy the Owl for my card today and she is having a little scare while out for the evening.

Poppy is dressed for the occasion in her witch hat and has her broom from the Props 9 die set.

I used the Hanging Charm Pull Tab decorated with the tree from the Halloween Scene set and the Halloween Charms.  I have linked all the dies below so you can see them in detail with a simple click.

For more inspiration from the team - visit Karen's Facebook Page where she shares cards and projects daily.  Tune in tomorrow for a new video and technique, that I'm sure you will love, on Karen's blog.

Happy Haunting,

The most wonderful time of the year -

Hi my friends and welcome back.  Today I have a fun little Christmas card to share with you.  I have used the Entwined Circles, Holiday Garlands 1 and the Postage Stamp Squares dies, a new release from Els van de Burgt Studio at Elizabeth Craft Designs

I cut 2 sizes from the Postage Stamp Square die using White Soft Finish Cardstock, then layered them on a red card base.  Next I stamped my greeting using the Winter Sentiments from Joset Designs in the center of the top panel.  To see how I made the wreath and the berry covered garland just check out the photos below.

I cut 4 Entwined Circles from green and layered them - off setting them slightly each time.  I used only one small dot of glue on each layer (gluing one on top of the other) leaving them loose all around.

Using the Holiday Garland 1 die set, I cut 4 strips of garland from the same green paper.  I ended up only needing 3.  Using Nuvo Crystal Drops I added a drop of red on each circle on the garland.  When that was dry, I turned them over and added a drop of red on the other side.  This insures that when adding the garland to the wreath, the red will show on both sides.

When all drops were dry, I twisted the garland around the wreath and attached the ends to the wreath. I then cut a bow using the Four Bows die with ECD Clear Double Sided Adhesive on the top.  After die cutting the bow, I removed the tape and added ECD Microfine Glitter for that touch of sparkle.
The final step is to simply glue the wreath and bow to the front of the card.

As scary as it seems, Christmas will be here before we know it.  No time like the present to start those Christmas cards.

Have a crafty day,

New from Elizabeth Craft Designs - Speech Bubble Edgy Options

Hi and welcome back, I'm here to share some exciting news.  There is a new release at Elizabeth Craft Designs from Els van de Burgt Studios.  This release includes some great versatile dies that you won't want to miss out on.

Today I want to tell you about the great new Speech Bubble Edgy Options shapes that are so much fun to use, both as a speech bubble and a fun card edge, for a different look on a gate fold cards.  I made this card using the Speech Bubble on the front of the card.

You may notice some other new items on this card as well,  here I have used the Entwined Ovals.  I like the retro look these dies give.  I have linked all dies I've used below so you can simply click to shop.

On the inside I've treated you to some lovely pudding from the Joset Designs latest release and then placed it on the Postage Stamp Squares die, also in this new release.  The cute, You're So Sweet, stamp is also from Joset Designs.  All paper on this fun card is Soft Finish Cardstock.

I hope you have enjoyed my card and will join me on Friday at the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog when I will be sharing another die in this release, the Circles Background.  I will have step by step instructions on how I made four different cards using the same die.

See you then,
S@ndy

Come in for a spell --

Hi my friends, it's Designer Challenge week and the entire team has conjured up some spooky spells for you.  Beware!

I really enjoyed putting this card together because I got to use lots of spooky elements from Karen Burniston's latest Pop it Ups release for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  This Halloween collection just works so nicely together to create any scene that comes to mind.

All those witches out there should beware - you never know what lies in store for you with such a friendly invitation.  For the cauldron I used a shortened up version of the Bathtub Pop Stand.  For the fire beneath the cauldron I used the mane from Cocoa the Horse.  I've listed all dies used at the end of the post.  Simply click to shop.

I had this great paper in my Halloween stash and it was perfect with the potions and skeleton, a fun finishing touch.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has made by clicking their blogs on the sidebar.  You can also see all their cards on Karen's Facebook Page by clicking here.  Karen will have a new video and technique to share with you tomorrow.  You can see it by visiting her blog here.

Spooky greetings,
S@ndy
