3D Tag Friday at A Vintage Journey

Hi everyone and welcome-

Today is the 5th Friday of the month (if you're on London time) and that means TAGS at A Vintage Journey.  The team has really gone the extra mile this time with some fabulous tags.  Please stop on over by clicking here to share in the creativity and fun.

For my tag I, of course, went with Halloween.  I have a large box of extra Configuration Boxes and sometimes like to use them on a small project like this one.  I gave my tag a 3D treatment by using a chipboard tag and a Configuration Box.

You can see Tim's influence everywhere in this project.  I have been playing with my Gelli Plate and used it to make the background then added some stamping on top.

This project will be perfect for the Anything But Cute Challenge where they are asking for a Halloween theme as well as the use of the number 31.

They are having a throwback at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge so I went with  October 2013 “Spooky”.

Hope everyone has the most spooky Halloween ever and thanks for stopping by,

It's Somebunny's Birthday----

Ok my friends - today I have a fun card to share with you.  I was really wanting a bunny from Karen Burniston and she came through with flying colors.  I was delighted when this new release from Elizabeth Craft Designs included  Lucky the Bunny.  I think he is adorable and have ideas swirling around in my head on to use him.

For this card I used Lucky, he is celebrating his birthday, with the new Props 7 which includes this cute basket along with different items to place in it.  I have provided links at the bottom of the page to all the dies I used on this card.

So let's celebrate!

On the front I used the Lucky Birthday Clear Stamp Set (Coming Soon) for the sentiment and those cute little bunnies around the edge.

Well - what can I say?  Lucky is so happy he's juggling carrots.  Quite a collection of gifts, party favors and balloons.

Have a Crafty Week,

Hello Autumn

Hi everyone,

I'm back today to share another card made with one of the new dies just released from Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  I love this time of year when the leaves turn and the air is cooler.  I am welcoming Autumn with the Props 7 die.  These baskets are so much fun to weave together and then adding the adorable little apples and the wheat from the Props 6 die just completes the feeling of fall.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again tomorrow when I will be sharing another card made from the dies in this great release.

See you then,

Exciting News!!

Hi my friends and welcome - today I have some great news from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  They have just released 5 new sets of Pop it Up Dies from Karen Burniston.  For the next few days I will be sharing some cards I made using them.

I immediately fell in love with the Props 6 - since I live in the Southwest - this is a favorite theme for me. I love all the small details this die set provides.  From the sheriff's badge to the stars on the spurs, this was so much fun.  Hope you enjoy.

On the card front I used some stickers that I had - then added the cute boots and spurs from Props 6.

Check below for a link to all the dies I used on this card.

Cocoa the Horse is all decked out in his cowboy hat and scarf.  Giddy Up!

See you tomorrow for card 2,

'Twas the night before Christmas

Hi again,

I'm back today to show you the second card for my class at The Paper Collage on November 17.  This time I went with the mouse who was stirring on the night before Christmas.

On the card front I used the Christmas Tree Pop Stand Die along with the great stamp from the Merry & Bright Clear Stamp Set.  All designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD).

This fun card opens flat to reveal Jolly in his Santa hat with a Candy Cane stirring around the Christmas Tree Pop Stand.  The trim on the hat and the pomp pomp are cut from white Velvet Adhesive Sheets by ECD. They look and feel fuzzy.
 So fun!

Hope you will check out the class details at the store:  The Paper Collage.
Would love to see you there,

New Class Card

Hi everyone and welcome - Today I'm making a quick stop to show one of the cards I made for a class that is scheduled for November 17 at The Paper Collage.  So hard to think about Christmas when we haven't even celebrated Halloween yet but it's a good time to get a head start, especially if you have gift cards to give.

Looks like Rudy is ready to party with the lights on his antlers and his nose lit up.  I used the Sleigh Gift Card holder and the Merry & Bright Stamp Set, all designed by Karen Burniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs, to let you know that Santa Says "Shop".
I have provided a link to each product below.

Card Front

I used the Quietfire words and the Bunches of Flowers 3 - all set on top of the Lots of Dots.
All from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

I will be back tomorrow with the second card for this class.
Please contact the store for more details by clicking here.

Have a crafty week,

Characters in Costume - Day 2

Hi everyone,

As promised - I'm back today to share my second card for the October Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  Karen has asked us to use the Character Dies - in costume.

I live in the Sonoran Desert where we have some critters that may not be found where you live.  One of them is the pesky Javelina.  Today I have Virgil the Pig in his Javelina disguise.  This idea came from my friend, Jan, who gave me permission to use it.  Thanks Jan.
I'm calling this pair - Howie & Harriet.

I used the Western Edges for the mountains, the Outdoor Edges for the dead grass and the top part of the All Seasons Tree for the dried branches.  The fun stamp, Cocoa Western, is a new one from Karen that will be available soon.

I have linked all of the products below

You can click here to see the great Character and Props Dies, all on sale through Friday for 20% off.

The inside of the card says what Howie is thinking.

The two stamp sets I used are Cocoa Western and Home Grown Greetings then colored with Chameleon Pens.

Stop by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog tomorrow to see what the rest of the team has made as well as a new video from Karen.  She always has a great new idea to share.

Have a creative week,
S@ndy

Characters in Costume

Hi everyone and welcome, it's the first day of the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge and she has challenged the team to use her fabulous character dies - appropriately for October - in costume.

NEWS FLASH!!
Karen Burniston Character Dies & Props are on sale starting today through Friday, 20% off

A few years ago when the Disney movie, Toy Story 3, came out Mac and I went to see it.  We were the only adults in the theater without children.  I decided to use the movie as my inspiration and made a 5" X 7" tent card.  After making all my characters I thought it would be fun to stage them in, what else, an Etch A Sketch.   My friend Susie got this new foiling machine by Hiedi Swapp and she graciously agreed to let me use it for the gold lettering, thanks Susie.  I am very pleased with the results and hope you enjoy my take on the challenge.

Cast of Characters
All the products I used are linked below-

Chilly the Penguin posing as Mr. Potato Head

Add all pieces of the second layer cut from brown and then add the features.  The eyebrows were made from the brim of the hat shown below from Props 6 (coming soon). The nose is made from the swim mask in Props 3.

Cocoa the Horse posing as Woody the Sheriff
A small alteration of the hat in Props 6 to make it look more like Woody's

William the Goat posing as Buzz Lightyear
Who doesn't love Buzz?  He has attitude!  The simple change of eye color and the addition of eyebrows changes the look.

I'll be back tomorrow with my second card for the challenge.  To see more from the team as well some fabulous inspiration from around the web - visit Karen's Facebook Page where she shares her finds daily.  Don't forget to visit the Elizabeth Crafts Designs Blog for great ideas everyday and on Wednesday October 14, 2015 you can see what the entire team did for this challenge as well as a new video from Karen.

Art Journaling with Tim

Hi and welcome -

Before I get started on today's challenge I just want to let you know that we are looking for a couple of new Creative Guides at A Vintage Journey.  If you like vintage and love sharing what you create this is the place for you.

For anyone who may be interested we are looking for
  two new Creative Guides
to join our talented team. If you would like more information and details please email Brenda at brenda_brown25@hotmail.com by Monday 5th October.

Today is a new challenge at A Vintage Journey hosted by the lovely Alison of  Words and Pictures.  I was delighted when I saw her challenge, Art Journaling with Tim, because I seem to procrastinate when it comes to journaling.  I did a two page spread and really packed it full of Tim's products and techniques.

I  had no idea where I was going with this but as I started, it just seemed to flow into a fun page.
Hope you enjoy----

Here's How I Did It-

I already had some pages with gesso on them so used those.  I had torn one page but
took off a little more.

Using some of Tim's Tissue Wrap, I covered the full page on the left and went up to the torn edge on the right.  I secured the tissue down with gel medium.  When it had dried, I rubbed on more gesso with a damp baby wipe.  I wanted to push the paper to the background without covering it completely.

Next came some Distress Paint, Broken China and Peeled Paint.  I cut the butterflies from another tissue wrap and put them on with gel medium.  I curled the edges of the torn page to fit around the butterflies, then added some Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  I have tons of washi tape but never seem to use it - so decided this would be a good time.  After adding rows of the colorful tape I glued the torn page to the page below, actually using 3 pages of  the journal.  I like how blue and orange work together so used those colors and then used some Rusty Hinge Distress Ink on the top. Some tape and ink were also added on the lower left corner.  A piece from the Mixed Media Die Set was added to the top right.

Next came the molding paste using some of Tim's Layering Stencils, Wildflower, for the flowers at the bottom and, Bubble, for the dots around the sides. They seemed to be so bright white so I rubbed some Cornflower Blue Archival Ink on, very lightly, with my fingers.  The large letters are Grunge Board colored black.  The smaller letters were stamped on.  For the finishing touches, a Pen Nib, a Keyhole and Leaves along with wire were added.  Some random stamping with a script stamp and then edged with Archival.

The final step was to add some color to the butterflies.  I used Chameleon Pens for that.
If you haven't tried Art Journaling yet, procrastinate no longer. It's fun and easy.

Hope you have an "Artful" weekend,
S@ndy
