Flutter Card

Hi All

I hope everyone is enjoying their Monday.  We are having a warm spell here in Arizona.  Feels more like summer than spring.

I have been working on a card that I wanted to share, it is made with the Butterfly Pivot Card die from Karen Burniston.  I wanted it to appear that the butterflies were fluttering all around the inside of the card. I tried a technique that I've had on my mind for awhile.  The Wednesday Challenge over at Simon Says Stamp is all about birthdays so will enter my card there.

I made the pivot card as usual and then cut 2 spirals from clear sheets using the Spiral Circle Pull Card die.  The acetate that I used is an overhead projector sheet.  These sheets are strong but thin and when you see the card in person you can't see it at all.
I attached the inside of the circle to the wings of the large Butterflies, closed the card to find the placement and then glued the outer edge of the spiral to the card.

The card closes completely flat but when opened the butterflies come flying out from everywhere.

In the photo above you can see the acetate because I photographed it in high definition and close up.

Hope you have enjoyed my adventure into fluttering butterflies-
Have a great week,

Make 'em Laugh!

This month Karen Burniston is challenging her design team to "Make 'em Laugh!"
and of course I wanted to join in.  With Easter just around the corner I thought it only logical to use an Easter inspired theme as well.  I just love those crazy head bands that are on the market for most holidays and thought perhaps Whiskers and Buster would like to join the fun and disguise themselves as a bunny.

Guess who?

I used the Adirondack Chair #975, although you can hardly see it now.  Whiskers the Cat #973, Buster #984, trees, blossoms & clouds from the All Seasons Tree Set #781, grass from the Outdoor Edge Set # 914 and the pail from the
Palm Tree & Pail Set #987.
I found some free clipart on the web and used it to fashion the ears, cutting them out by hand and then drawing in some of the details.  I hope it makes you laugh.

Here is the front of the card where I used two stamps from Stampin Up and the labels from  the Katie Label Pivot Card # 768 along with one of the Agatha Edges #782.

Have a great week and don't forget to stop by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog on Wednesday to see all the cards from the Design Team and a new video from Karen.

Keep Laughing,

Hi - Happy Sunday

Hi everyone,

Just stopping by for a little visit.  I haven't posted anything this week which is unusual for me.  You may think I've been goofing off but OH NO!!  I've been busy.
I've been taking some computer classes here in our community and I have learned a lot.  I'm hoping to be able to share some videos with you soon.  I have also been taking a class on all the do's and don'ts of Twitter.
If you like - you can now follow me on Twitter @sandydiller.

I have also decided to teach a few classes at our local scrapbook store, The Paper Collage, where I will be teaching a class on March 25th featuring three of the new releases from Karen Burniston & Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD).  Thought I would share those with you today.  I'm happy to say that the class filled up very quickly so I have been making kits. (not the fun part of teaching)

Here are the cards I will be teaching:

For the first card I simply made a few changes to the one Karen made at CHA for her "Make & Take.  Mine is a Thank You card.

Next I used Rocky the Crab to wish you a Clawsome Day!  On the front, I cut the words using one of my ECD dies and fun foam for a different look.

And last but certainly not least we are making this Easter Card using the Rectangle Accordion Card with the Katie Flourish Frame Edge and The Easter Stamp Set from Tim Holtz. You may be saying, hum, I think I've seen this before.  Yes you have - I just took one of my favorite past projects and made it into a smaller card, you can see it here.

Have a wonderful Sunday & I'll see you soon,

Anything Tim and a Birthday Celebration

Hi All

Today we are celebrating our first birthday over at A Vintage Journey.  Please stop by to see all the fabulous creations from the Creative Guides and to see all the great prizes you could win.  It is quite a party happening over there.

The challenge this month, which begins our new format for the blog, is "Anything Tim".  We are excited about the changes with a challenge each month and some wonderful tutorials from the team each week to stir your creative imagination.  We are still Tim Holtz inspired.  Hope you will join us.

I have been working this month on some organization for both my studio and my blog.
For the blog - I've been working on the look and the commenting section in hopes that it will be easier for you to leave comments.  I love hearing from you and hope you will make comments, no need to have a blog yourself.

For the studio - I've been working on some organization and making it easier for me to be creative and find my stuff.  I'm sharing my first step in that organization today with a storage cabinet to hold my small Tim items and to access them easily.  Here is what I made and you could call it (except for the cabinet from KAISERCRAFT)
"Everything Tim".

I have filled the drawer with the item shown on the drawer front which puts everything at my fingertips.  It is an attractive container that I can leave sitting out on the work table - so not as much digging around in my stash.

Here's how I did it!

I started with this very cute drawer storage unit from Kaisercraft.  It was a little like a jigsaw puzzle when I opened to package but it was very easy to put together.  I actually put it together and then took it apart again so I could paint the sides and inside more easily.

After painting, I assembled it again and used some wood glue at the joints.

I next selected the paper from the Wallflower Collection.

After adding all the paper, I sanded all the edges so they were smooth.

Then of course I had to ink all the edges with Distress Ink, Vintage Photo

I had these wheels in my stash so used them as legs.

Next came the drawers themselves, as you can see, some assembly required.

I then covered the fronts of each drawer with manila paper that I embossed with three different embossing folders from Tim's collection.  Then of course - more ink.

The finishing touches were to added a sample of the items to the drawer front and then fill them up.  Done!

This is a cute and useful item that will help me be more productive.
Hope you have enjoyed.

Have a crafty weekend,
